E-Commerce is Booming in the UK
According to a recent Nielsen study, e-commerce in the U.K. is booming, with more than 8 of 10 online users visiting at least one of the nation’s top 200 e-commerce sites when measured by the international media research company in August of 2010.
In addition, Nielsen reported that one in six visitors make a purchase, with 89 million transactions taking place during the survey month’s 546 million recorded visits to e-commerce sites.
The Nielsen U.K. e-commerce study showed that 57 percent of survey respondents said they shopped online to find merchandise at lower prices. In addition, 32 percent said the Internet provides them with the opportunity to shop anytime, and 29 percent said they prefer to shop online to avoid dealing with sales personnel.
